4.3 Table Styles and Financial Tables
Tables can be inserted and formatted the same way as Microsoft Word. It can be difficult and time-consuming to ensure all tables inserted this way are correctly formatted and consistent with each other.
Report Authority has expanded on the standard table functionality and includes the ability to insert fully formatted tables which fit margin to margin and contain dynamic headers. These are called “Financial Tables”.
To insert a financial table, click the “Financial Table” button in the Insert ribbon.
The appearance of Financial Tables can be modified in File > Options.
If “Auto-width” is selected, the table will stretch from margin to margin. Report variables will automatically be inserted into the tables so that if you roll the report forward, or change the default currency or scale – the headers will automatically update.
A “Primary Schedule” contains a note column and spans margin to margin. A subsidiary schedule does not contain a note column and is indented from the left margin which will align with the indented (i) versions of the styles.
The indentation distance from the left margin can be set in File > Options .
Table Autofit
Tables and their columns can be automatically resized by using the “Autofit” command.
This is useful for automatically adjusting tables that may have been pasted from external sources, resetting table layouts where there have been manual edits, or after changing some of the application defaults relating to the sizing of tables.
