10.4.1 Oracle HFM - Connecting to HFM Applications

Report Authority can import data from an HFM application.  This is achieved through the installation of the Report Authority HFM web service which is installed on the HFM server.  Once installed, Report Authority will list all dimension members in the Automation panel which can be used to automate table cells, rows, columns and entire sheets.

Report Authority can connect to one or more HFM applications in the same document.  To create a connection, click Manage Connections on the Home ribbon:

Once clicked - the Data Connections dialog will appear:

  • Name - Enter the name for the connection.
  • Environment - Select from the list of configured environments, such as Development, Test and Production.

Click the Connect button.  Report Authority will attempt to connect to the environment to read the list of available Clusters and Applications.

  • Cluster - Select the cluster from the list of clusters found.
  • Application - Select the application from the list of applications found.
Click the Set... button next to the Point of View defaults.  You will now be asked for your HFM credentials to retrieve the HFM metadata. Once successfully logged in, you will see the Point of View Defaults dialog:

You must select a member from each of the Scenario, View and ICP dimension to be the default member for that dimension.  When mapping report objects, it is optional to provide a member from any of these dimensions - their value will be inherited from the connection if no explicit member is given. Furthermore, the Scenario, View or ICP of all existing objects can changed by simply updating the connection's POV Default values.

  • Click OK to save the POV defaults
  • Click Add to add the connection.
