10.5.2 Oracle Essbase - Dimension Context Mappings
Once an Essbase connection is saved, the Mapping panel will automatically get focus. The Mapping panel is used to map document concepts such as entity identifier, currency and reference date to the Essbase dimensions nominated in the Essbase Dimension Context form when creating the connection:
- Entity
- Year
- Period
- Currency (Value)
If a dimension has not been nominated to any of these document contexts, its mapping table can be ignored.
When mapping data objects in the report it is optional to provide a member from any of these 4 dimensions. If no value is provided, the value used by the Essbase adaptor will be determined based on the 4 mapping tables. By not providing an explicit value for any of these dimensions during mapping, it is easy to extract data for any entity, for any period in any currency without having to modify individual mappings.
Entity
The entity mapping panel is used to map the document's entity identifier used when creating the report - which will be the identifier used to identify the reporting entity with the regulator - to the Essbase Entity code.
The left column contains the document's identifier and the right column (which will default to be the same as the left column) must be edited to represent the Essbase entity code.
Year
The year mapping panel is used to map the year from the document's reference date to the year member of the Essbase database.
The left column contains the document's reference date's year and the right column (which will default to be the same as the left column) must be edited to represent the Essbase year.
Period
The period mapping panel is used to map the calendar month from the document's reference date to the period member in the Essbase database.
The left column contains the document's reference date's calendar month and the right column (which will default to [Year]) must be edited to represent the Essbase period such as Q1, Q2, etc.
Currency (Value)
The Currency (Value) mapping panel is used to map the currency from each data object to a member in the Essbase database.
The left column contains the 3 digit currency code and the right column (which will default to be the same as the left column) must be the appropriate value in the Essbase database.
Click Create Import Template to generate an Excel data-mapping template pre-populated with the values in the 4 mapping tables in your current document. Use this file to store the required values and later import them into any report via Process Import Template.
Note: Do not rename any worksheet tabs or required columns in the template.
