10.2 Refresh Links

Report Authority manages all external links though a single unified process.  External links include:

• Links to a template
• Data adaptors

Trigger

On opening a Report Authority document, the user will be asked to refresh links if it contains any external links.

The process can be manually triggered at any time by clicking on the Refresh All Links button in the Data ribbon bar:

The refresh links process consists of two phases:

• Updating of segments, connections, mapping tables, custom secondary tags and rules from the template; and
• Data object values.

The reason for this two phase approach is that the first stage may result in changes to data adaptor settings which in turn could result in the data adaptor returning different values.

If no changes are detected, both stages will run back to back without any need for user input.  If data adaptor errors are detected, the details will be inserted into the messages panel.
