1.5 Updating Taxonomies
As regulators periodically update XBRL taxonomies, Authority Software ensures these updates are thoroughly parsed, tested, and released as part of our routine software patch process. Updated taxonomy files are included in these patch releases to maintain compatibility and compliance with regulatory standards.
By default, taxonomy files are stored in the Program Files folder alongside the application. Local administrator rights are required to modify any files in this location.
DPM Authority also supports loading taxonomy files from your user’s roaming profile folder. Files in this folder can be modified without needing local administrator access.
This flexibility allows organisations to load updated taxonomy files independently of a new software patch. This can be particularly useful when there are long lead times for testing and deploying new patches within your organisation.
This folder can be located by clicking the "Open" button next to the Local Taxonomy File Location label:
Compatibility Considerations
Not all taxonomy files are compatible with all versions of DPM Authority. If our QA process detects a bug requiring a fix in the DPM Authority client, the updated taxonomy file will only work with the patch version it is officially released in (or later).
How to Load Updated Taxonomy Files
To load updated taxonomy files into your roaming profile you can either manually copy the files to the folder located as described above, or click the "Load Taxonomy Package..." button in the New Document Wizard.
Here you can load a *.taxd (single) or *.taxds (set) file that you received from Authority Software support.
Please note you must restart DPM Authority after you have loaded your last file in order for the taxonomies to be loaded in the software.
