9.3 Suppressing a segment or folder of segments
A segment or a folder of segments can be suppressed in one of three ways.
Using suppression rules
A suppression rule can be created and assigned in the segment or folder's properties dialog:
Using the Suppress if all values are zero shortcut
The first item in the Suppression rule combobox is a shortcut Suppress if all values are zero shortcut. This is a shortcut as you do not need to create and maintain a suppression rule.
When the document is assembled on export, Report Authority will check the value of all monetary data objects in the segment. If all their values are zero - the segment or folder of segments will be suppressed.
Using a custom report variable of type Yes/No
A custom report variable of type Yes/No can be assigned to segments, or folders of segments. A value of true will suppress, a value of false will not suppress.
Hiding the segment or folder of segments
The Hide property can be used to exclude the segment from the output. This is a convenient way to remove the segment content from the output without creating a suppression rule or requiring that all monetary data objects have a zero value.
