9.3 Suppressing a segment or folder of segments

A segment or a folder of segments can be suppressed in one of three ways.

Using suppression rules

A suppression rule can be created and assigned in the segment or folder's properties dialog:

Using the Suppress if all values are zero shortcut

The first item in the Suppression rule combobox is a shortcut Suppress if all values are zero shortcut. This is a shortcut as you do not need to create and maintain a suppression rule.

When the docuemnt is assembled on export, Report Authority will check the value of all monetary data objects in the segment. if all their values are zero - the segemnt or folder of segments will be suppressed.

Hiding the segment or folder of segments

The Hide property can be used to exclude the segment from the output. This is a covenient way to remove the segment content from the output wihtout creating a suppression rule or requiring that all monetary data objects have a zero value.
