Tagging Words

To tag a word with a text tag, you can;

  1. drag the tag and drop it onto the word in the report; or
  2. select the word and click the Insert Tag button on the Home ribbon; or
  3. select the word and hit the Ctrl + t shortcut key combination.

Tagging Whole Paragraphs

To tag an entire paragraph with a text tag, you can;

  1. drag the tag and drop it onto any word in the paragraph whilst holding the Alt modifier key; or
  2. select the word and click the Insert Tag button on the Home ribbon; or
  3. select the word and hit the Ctrl + t shortcut key combination.

Tagging Phrases

To tag a phrase, which is a combination of words within a paragraph or table cell, you can either:

  1. click the Insert Tag button on the Home ribbon; or
  2. hit the Ctrl + t shortcut key combination.

Tagging Multiple Paragraphs

To tag multiple paragraphs, you must select the entire content of all paragraphs and can either:

  1. click the Insert Tag button on the Home ribbon; or
  2. hit the Ctrl + t shortcut key combination.

Note that if the tag is to span multiple paragraphs, the tag must include all content from the first to the last paragraph.  

Tagging Numbered and Bulleted Lists

If a tag is to span bulleted or numbered lists, the tag must include the entire list plus the paragraph before and the paragraph afterwards - even if its empty. To tag a bulleted or numbered list you must select the entire list plus the paragraph before and after and can either:

  1. click the Insert Tag button on the Home ribbon; or
  2. hit the Ctrl + t shortcut key combination.

Tagging across multiple table cells

You can apply a text tag to many cells at the same time.  This is useful if you wish to (for example), tag the names of all your subsidiaries which appear in the first column of the table.  It is often quicker in this use case to give each fact in each column in this table the identical tag, then to edit the dimension properties of each row one at a time as in this example:
