3.2 Elements

Elements refer to the reportable facts represented by input cells in XML Authority.

Mandatory Elements

Mandatory elements are elements that must exist in the XML Instance document are indicated in XML Authority by the purple background colour:

Cells with a white background are non-mandatory and may be left blank, or hidden using the Schema Masking functionality.

Enumerated Elements

Elements with a defined list of acceptable values contain drop-down lists that appear when the element's value is being edited.

Date Elements

Date elements contain a calendar control, with a time picker (if appropriate):

Time Stamps

In the example above, the element should contain the date and time that the XML instance document was generated.  Rather than manually editing this element each time you generate the XML instance, you can click the Now() button, or type "Now()" into the input cell.  You can even add the text Now() in your source data.

XML Authority will replace Now() with the date and time stamp of whenever the XML instance document is generated.

If the element contains documentation in the schema, an "i" will be shown.  To view the documentation, hover the mouse over the "i":
