10.7.3 NetSuite - Mapping Data Points to NetSuite

To create a connection, click Manage Connections on the Data ribbon bar:

Once clicked - the Data Connections dialog will appear:

  • Name - Enter the name for the connection.
  • Binding - create a new binding as described here or select the existing one.

Click the Connect button.  Report Authority will attempt to connect to the environment to read the list of available applications.

  • Retained earnings account - select the required retained earnings account from the drop-down list of available accounts.
  • Use account mapping adaptor - To use account mapping with Netsuite, set the Use Account Mapping checkbox to true.

Click Add to add the connection.

Once a NetSuite connection is saved, the Mapping panel will automatically get focus.  The Mapping panel is used to map document concepts such as entity identifier, currency to the following NetSuite Dimensions:

  1. Entity
  2. Value (Currency)

Entity

The entity mapping panel is used to map the document's entity identifier used when creating the report - which will be the identifier used to identify the reporting entity with the regulator - to the NetSuite Entity code.

The left column contains the document's identifier and the right column (which will default to be the same as the left column) must be edited to represent the NetSuite entity code.

Note: a label can be copied from the metadata tree in the Automation pane. Right-click on the required NetSuite node and select Copy the node label:

Value (Currency)

The Unit Value mapping panel is used to map the currency/units from each data object to a member in NetSuite's Value dimension. This will be defaulted to be the same as the left column.

Note: Data objects may have different currencies across the document.

Click Create Import Template to generate an Excel data-mapping template pre-populated with the values in the 2 mapping tables in your current document. Use this file to store the required values and later import them into any report via Process Import Template.

Note: Do not rename any worksheet tabs or required columns in the template.

Data points can be linked to NetSuite

  1. individually using the Value Editor panel;
  2. via drag and drop;
  3. via the "Insert Object(s)" ribbon button; and
  4. "Ctrl + T" keyboard shortcut.

Value Editor panel

The data adaptor can be created and edited using the data adaptor control in the Value Editor panel.

If you change the data adaptor to “NetSuite” or click on the Configure Data Adaptor button, the following form will appear:

Member selector

In each of the Dimensions, the Report Authority member selector is presented in a dropdown list:

The clear selection button can be used to remove an explicit selection and revert it to the mapped value.

Drag and drop

Using drag-and-drop you can assign dimension members to single cells, entire rows and columns and entire tables. For each NetSuite connection created, Report Authority will download the present metadata in the Automation panel:

Speed Up Mapping By Disabling Auto-Update

When NetSuite adaptors are modified by dragging and dropping a member onto a row, column, or entire table, the value of each data adaptor that is modified will be retrieved from NetSuite.  This will introduce a delay between the dropping of a member and initiating the next drag action.  This delay will depend on how many objects are updated and the speed of the NetSuite connection.  If the delay is noticeable, you can speed up the mapping process by temporarily disabling auto-update using the toggle button at the top of the Automation panel:

With this toggled on, Report Authority will store the connection changes but will not attempt to retrieve data from NetSuite.  You can complete your mapping, and once completed, you can trigger the global refresh links process.
