Validation Rule Categories to Use to Automate Totals and Sub-Totals
DPM Authority provides a new user and report setting that allows you to choose which validation rule categories are used to automate totals and sub-totals.
You can select one of the following options:
- Errors and warnings (default)
- Errors only
If you change the setting, you will be prompted to confirm whether you want to persist the change:

- If you choose to persist it, the selected option becomes the default setting for all new documents
- If not persisted, the change applies only to the current document
When the setting is changed, DPM Authority automatically updates calculations in the current document:
If changed from Errors and warnings to Errors only:
All calculations based on Warning validation rules are removed from the current report.
If changed from Errors only to Errors and warnings:
All calculations based on Warning validation rules are added to the current report.
This ensures that automated totals and sub-totals always reflect the selected validation rule categories.
Other Defaults
- Date/Number format: select the region that presents dates and numbers in the format you require.
- Null and 0 inconsistent duplicate facts: Duplicate facts are facts which exist on more than one table but can only be inserted in the XBRL once. The value of these facts is compared during the validation process. For inconsistencies which involve facts with values of 0 and null, DPM Authority can automatically assume the values are 0 for all instances of the same fact or report these as errors to be manually corrected.
- With the setting Report 0 (Default), there should be no inconsistent duplicate fact errors.
- With the setting Report as errors, inconsistent duplicate facts are reported.
- Rounding of monetary facts in the XBRL:
Validation rules may fail where facts are out by only small fractions, requiring manual amendment to clear the rules. DPM Authority does not round any values by default, but provides an option to automatically round monetary facts. There are three rounding options for monetary facts
- No rounding (Default)
- Cents (Monetary facts are rounded to cents when validating and exporting to XBRL)
- Units (Monetary facts are rounded to units when validating and exporting to XBRL)
Important: Data Object (DO) values are not changed.
- Import template enumerations: DPM Authority provides a flexible way to import enumeration values from external data sources. This setting has three options:
- XBRL tag label (e.g. “AUSTRIA”) (Default)
- XBRL tag ID (e.g. “eba_GA:AT”)
- Truncated XBRL tag ID (e.g. “AT”)
For more information on these options, see the related article Flexible importing of enumerations / q-names
- Method for table initialisation: This setting includes three options:
- Both (ask for method when adding tables) (Default)
- Entire Templates
- Individual Tables and Sheets
For more information on these options, see the related article 3.1 Initialising Tables
Whenever you make changes in the DPM Authority Options form and press the Save button, you will be asked whether you want to include them to all new reports or only the current report:

The Rules panel for creating custom validation rules is now accessible from the DPM Authority Options form, in the Other Defaults section:
